The Institute provides an excellent opportunity for concentrated work in the performing and visual arts and provides assistance in preparation for exams and auditions.
Excellent soloists and members of leading European and American orchestras teach the Institute's mastercourses to intermediate and advanced arts students that join us from more than 20 countries.


In 2009, we will offer the following sections:

Solo Instrument and Chamber Music (violin, viola, cello, double bass, flute, oboe, trumpet)

The sparkling atmosphere of the Institute provides a good opportunity for interdisciplinary experimentation as well. The contemporary music mastercourse fills a very urgent gap in arts education. On the last two days of the summer course, the best students will have the opportunity to perform on the main stage of the
prestigious Zempléni Festival in the Rákóczi castle courtyard (August 8th and 9th). The Festival Prize will be given to the outstanding performer of the institute. The winner will receive an invitation to perform in the 2010 Zempléni Festival.

The Summer Institute is a great opportunity for young people preparing for or considering a career in the arts to study alongside seasoned professional artists in a Christian environment. In addition to courses and private lessons with outstanding teachers, students will have the possibility of participating in chapels, prayer times and small group discussions concerning arts and being an artist - also from a theologial point of view.The course is open to all qualified young musicians regardless of their faith persuasion, and participation in the eucumenical elements of the course is optional.

We consider the relationship between students and teachers important, so we invite teachers who are, of course, excellent artists, but who also put an emphasis on character. Many teachers choose to bring their families to Sárospatak, which further enlivens the environment.
